Governance

The Quintessentially Foundation is the focus of the charitable activity of the Quintessentially Group and, to that extent, is an integral part of the Quintessentially Group.

It is, however, completely independent from a governance perspective and is directed by the Board of Trustees, the majority of whom have no connection to the Quintessentially Group, or its business activities.

The remit of the Board of Trustees is to:

  • Select the charities that the Quintessentially Foundation will support on an annual basis. These charities must be UK registered charities. It is the intention that the number of charities in each year will be limited to four; two of which will have a primary UK focus and the others will have an international focus. Extra charities can be added in response to specific events throughout the year, for example in response to a natural disaster
  • Establish an endowment element to the Quintessentially Foundation, as and when the Trustees feel it is appropriate
  • Direct the fundraising activities of the Foundation
  • Apportion the sums raised between the partner charities
  • Monitor the charities to ensure that the donated funds are spent effectively and efficiently
  • Ensure that the activities of the Quintessentially Foundation are carried out in compliance with the highest legal and financial/accounting practices. In this respect, the trustees are grateful to Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP and Ivan Sopher & Co for offering pro bono legal and accounting advice in the UK, respectively
  • Ensure that the accounts of the Quintessentially Foundation are properly audited and published
