Johnnie Walker Blue Philanthropy Series, Spring

Quintessentially Foundation has put on an exciting series of philanthropy talks at Quintessentially Soho at The House of St Barnabas. The first one, “Charity in a Capitalist Market”, was a great success. It was led by Benita Refson OBE, Chief Executive of The Place2Be, followed by a fantastic Johnnie Walker Blue Label whisky tasting session.

Other speakers included Chris Mothupi, Director for South Africa, Room to Read, who led a talk and discussion on “Battling Child Illiteracy in Africa; A Case Study – Room to Read”, Evan Davis with Shelter Box, Basic Needs and Venture Partnership Foundation on “Humanitarian Aid: What Works? Lessons from Haiti and the tsunami”, Harriet Walker and Tom Lawson on “Prisoners Abroad: Out of Sight, Out of Mind”, and Kristine Pearson, CEO of Free Play Foundation, on “Life Energy: Renewable Energy and Humanitarian Disasters”. We were also delighted to welcome Matthew Parris (The Times columnist and Broadcaster) to come and talk about his time out in Malawi with Pump Aid, a charity which works in local African communities to provide clean, safe water.

The Philanthropy Series is an important step in helping develop Quintessentially Foundation’s philanthropic aims and messages.
