Quintessentially Foundation fundraising events for The Place2Be:

The Affordable Art Fair in aid of The Place2Be

On Wednesday 10th March, The Affordable Art Fair held their charity preview night in aid of The Place2Be, in partnership with Quintessentially Foundation.

The Affordable Art Fair is the leading art fair for pieces under GBP 3,000 in value and takes place in Battersea Park, London.

The opening night of the fair was a charity fundraiser and we were fortunate enough to partner with The Place2Be to help raise money for this terrific charity and help support their work in the schools of Wandsworth, London. Martin Bell, the former MP and BBC correspondent opened the fair on behalf of the charity and over 4,000 guests attended an excellent evening which saw over GBP 20,000 being raised for The Place2Be. As well as raising money through ticket sales and a silent auction, which was kindly supported by donations from many of the exhibiting galleries, The Place2Be was given an area in which to showcase its school-based counselling services to the visitors.

We would like to thank The Affordable Art Fair for supporting The Place2Be and all those galleries which donated pieces to the silent auction.

Employee Engagement Scheme Launched in London

The employee engagement scheme got off the ground in London with a team from the London office, including Paul Drummond and Alison Lewis, visiting Fairchildes Primary School in Croydon, South London over the course of two days to help decorate a Place2Be room.

The room which the London team decorated is a safe and secure place where the children go on a weekly basis to talk through their problems and build up their confidence, self esteem and resilience which will help them in the future.

By all accounts, the Quintessentially London team had a great time at the school, enjoyed a trip back down memory lane eating school dinners and saw that their work was really appreciated by the Fairchildes Primary School and The Place2Be. A big thank you to everyone who was kind enough to get involved.

Summer Pub Quiz

During the summer of 2009 the London office held its first pub quiz which saw seven teams compete for a fantastic case of wine, kindly donated by Quintessentially Wine. Held at The Bathhouse, a local pub, the evening saw members of Quintessentially London pit their knowledge, self belief and wit against each other whilst raising money for the Foundation.

The money raised from the evening went towards helping fund the employee engagement scheme which will see team members help in the local community in a voluntary capacity. This time the money raised went towards The Place2Be project in Croydon.

If you think that your office could hold a pub quiz, why not get a group together and plan one yourselves – they are great fun, give you a chance to test the knowledge of your colleagues, and raise money for some great causes too!

Quintessentially Foundation London To Edinburgh Bike Ride.

I am delighted to announce that all 54 cyclists crossed the finish line in Edinburgh on the 24th July raising over £200,000 for The Place2Be. On the bike ride challenge, the cyclists endeavoured around 466 miles in just 5 days! This was Quintessentially Foundation’s toughest bike ride yet with the cyclists crossing distances of 100 miles a day.
Our starting point for this exciting and challenging bike ride was the beautiful Alexandra Palace – the iconic North London venue with the best panoramic views of London. Our journey took the cyclists on a wonderful route which avoided most of the large towns between London and Edinburgh. The first two days were largely flat and the third and fourth days, although tough cycling, had some lovely countryside features for the cyclists. The finish was in Edinburgh between Arthur’s Seat and Holyrood Palace.

The money raised has been donated to The Place2Be. The Place2Be works inside schools to improve the emotional wellbeing of children, their families and the whole school community. The Place2Be’s counseling services reach over 58,000 children in 172 schools in some of the UK’s toughest neighborhoods.

Thank you to all 54 cyclists that took part in the London to Edinburgh bike ride. We hope you all enjoyed it the event and we would love for you to take part in 2012.
