Quintessentially Foundation were thrilled to partner with Room to Read for their 10th Anniversary Charity Gala on the 24th November 2010. The Gala was held at the Mandarin Oriental and was hosted by John Wood, Founder and Executive Chairman of Room to Read, John Ridding, CEO of The Financial Times with Jancis Robinson OBE MW.
The gala was an outstanding success; raising over £900,000. This fantastic amount of money enabled Room to Read to support another 40,000 children to gain the lifelong gift of education.
Ben Elliot hosted a table of guests who collectively spent an astonishing £40,7000 on the live auction. In addition, the Quintessentially Membership that Q Foundation helped to facilitate raised £12,000 that evening.
Quintessentially Foundation provided match funding of £50,000 to be used to leverage additional donations on the night. This match funding will enable us to fund 1 Constructed Reading Room (£28,000) and 2 Reading Rooms (£8,500 each) in Zambia, with the remaining funds (£5,000) directed to our Girls Education Programme.
The Quintessentially match funding also enabled us to raise an additional £50,000 on the night from other guests for our Girls Education Programme, which will enable us to fund 32 girls through 10 years of education.
In total, the amount raised by Quintessentially Foundation at this event is £90,700. We will be posting updates regarding the construction of the Reading Rooms in Zambia as soon as possible.
