On Friday 13th November 2009 the Quintessentially Foundation hosted a fashion event with a difference, Style 4 Schools. The show combined luxury, fashion and philanthropy to raise over HKD 400,000 (over GBP 30,000) for children’s charity Room to Read.
350 guests enjoyed a dazzling reception followed by a fabulous fashion show. Hong Kong’s movers, shakers, models and socialites came to see dresses donated by some of the world’s top fashion houses as well as the debut collection of Hong Kong student Orange Chan. Under the guidance of local couturiere, Kanchan Panjabi, her collection was inspired by Room to Read countries such as India.
Following the show, guests bid for the dresses including gowns from designers Matthew Williamson, Roland Mouret, Chloe and Armani, with all proceeds going toward the education of girls in the developing world. Sponsors of the event included Barclays Wealth, Quintessentially, The Financial Times, Chantecaille, Sergio Rossi and W Hong Kong.
The Style 4 Schools 2010 competition kicks off next month and will provide Hone Kong high school students with the opportunity to showcase their creations and compete to win an internship with an established fashion designer or brand. This year’s prestigious judging panel includes designers Fiona Kotur Marin of KOTUR, Jimmy Chan of Rue du Mail and couturier Barney Cheng.
