Funding in Action: Spring Community Hub

The Quintessentially Foundation has supported the Spring Community Hub's Christmas campaign to provide children and their families with food and gifts this holiday season.

Christmas is a magical time of year. But it comes at a price. On average we spend 29% more in December than in other months. For the 44% of Southwark’s children who live in poverty, Christmas magic is a lot harder to come by.

This December, the Spring Community Hub will provide 250 low-income families with a Christmas package to ensure that they won't go hungry over the festive season. Each package will contain healthy, nutritious food so that families can come together to celebrate this special time of year as well as gifts for every child in the family.

We know the impact that food poverty can have on the lives of children. From nutritional and physical well-being to learning ability and educational attainment. Through this project, we can be there for children and their families.

This project was part of The Childhood Trust's Christmas campaign which match-funded donations to specially chosen grassroots projects. Through a grant of £5,000, the Quintessentially Foundation was able to double its impact and help the Spring Community Hub raise almost £20,000 in total.

Thank you to our donors and supporters whose generosity enabled us to support this much needed project.
